Some of My Favorite Places in Paris…Not Always at the Top of the Tourist List

Basilique de Saint-Denis

Notre Dame is being rehabbed and Sainte Chapelle is usually mobbed. Take the #13 Metro to Basilique de Saint-Denis on a sunny day for a truly mystical/historical experience in the burial place of most of the French monarchs back to the 6th century.

Place du Temple-Elie-Weisel

Feet tired from a morning of sightseeing? Pick up a sandwich, salad, and drink at a local market and have lunch at the charming Place du Temple-Elie-Weisel, a beautiful, peaceful square in the heart of the city, a block and a half east of Metro stop Arts et Métiers.

Place des Abbesses

After exploring Montmartre, don’t take the bus back to the Pigalle Metro. Walk down the hill to Place des Abbesses. This little place has a merry-go-round, and you can enter the Metro system through one of Paris remaining art nouveau entrances.
