Some of My Favorite Places in Paris…Not Always at the Top of the Tourist List

Basilique de Saint-Denis

Notre Dame is being rehabbed and Sainte Chapelle is usually mobbed. Take the #13 Metro to Basilique de Saint-Denis on a sunny day for a truly mystical/historical experience in the burial place of most of the French monarchs back to the 6th century.

Place du Temple-Elie-Weisel

Feet tired from a morning of sightseeing? Pick up a sandwich, salad, and drink at a local market and have lunch at the charming Place du Temple-Elie-Weisel, a beautiful, peaceful square in the heart of the city, a block and a half east of Metro stop Arts et M├ętiers.

Place des Abbesses

After exploring Montmartre, don’t take the bus back to the Pigalle Metro. Walk down the hill to Place des Abbesses. This little place has a merry-go-round, and you can enter the Metro system through one of Paris remaining art nouveau entrances.
